Both figures offer unique approaches in interpreting Qur'anic verses, particularly regarding gender issues, such as QS. An-Nisa': 1, 11, and 34. This research examines the characteristics of their interpretive methodologies, identifies similarities and differences in their interpretations of gender-related verses, and analyzes the relevance of their thoughts to contemporary social, cultural, and gender discourse. The primary aim of this study is to provide a deeper understanding of the traditional approach employed by Zainab al-Ghazali and the feminist hermeneutical method developed by Amina Wadud. This study employs a qualitative method with a library research approach. The analysis focuses on primary sources, namely Nazarat fi Kitabillah by Zainab al-Ghazali and Qur'an and Woman by Amina Wadud, along with relevant secondary references. The findings reveal that their differing approaches are influenced more by socio-historical contexts and educational backgrounds than by gender factors. Zainab al-Ghazali leans toward a moderate approach rooted in traditional narrations, while Amina Wadud emphasizes contextual interpretations to empower women. Despite their methodological differences, both share a common goal of advocating for women's empowerment within the framework of universal Islamic values.
2025-06-14T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Khulasah : Islamic Studies Journalhttps://ojs.staisdharma.ac.id/index.php/kisj/article/view/401BANTAHAN TERHADAP PEMIKIRAN FATIMA MERNISSI2025-05-12T15:54:11+00:00Muhamad Faisalmuhammadfaysal0198@gmail.com
This research is entitled "Rebuttal to Fatima Mernissi's Thoughts (Critical Study of Hadith Ṣahīh Bukhāri)" This study is based on the justice towards women contained in various religious texts (including hadith) which has begun to be questioned since the presence of the feminist equality movement. Some feminists accuse Islam of being a patriarchal religion that discriminates against and oppresses women. So this study will analyze one of the feminist figures, namely Fatima Mernissi, who conducted a series of criticisms of the authentic hadith of Bukhari. This research is library research, the data sources used in this study are the book of Ṣahīh Bukhāri, and Mernissi's book entitled Woman and Islam: An Historical and Theological Inquiry. Analyzed using the sanad and matan criticism approach so that the results of this study show that, First, Mernissi attacks the personality of Abu Bakrah as one of the narrators in the hadith of female leadership. Abu Bakrah is accused of being a figure who prioritizes political interests in the narration of this hadith, namely being spoken in order to prove it at a critical time. And this is refuted by the hadith in the previous chapter which tells that Abu Bakrah was proven not to side with any side during the civil war not because of political gain. Second, Mernissi gave a series of criticisms of Abu Hurairah. However, scholars agree that the companions were agreed upon for their justice even if the companions were involved in slander/conflict. So that the criticism that was thrown did not invalidate the validity of the companions as transmitters of the hadith. Third, regarding women as bad luck, Mernissi questioned Bukhari why he included the hadith without including the hadith of Aisah as a comparison. Mernissi's question was answered that similar or equivalent hadiths are found in many books. It is even found in Sahih Muslim, so the hadith deserves the predicate muttafaq 'alaih.
2025-06-14T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Khulasah : Islamic Studies Journalhttps://ojs.staisdharma.ac.id/index.php/kisj/article/view/409Implementasi Pemenuhan Nafkah pada Keluarga Generasi Sandwich di Yayasan Diniyah Pekanbaru Perspektif Sosiologi Keluarga2025-05-20T14:06:31+00:00Ayu SuryaNensyayusuria35@gmail.comSofia Hardanisofia.hardani@uin-suska.ac.idArisman Arismanarisman@uin-suska.ac.id
The term "sandwich generation" has recently been used to describe a situation where individuals, particularly young adults, face the dual burden of caring for elderly parents while also supporting children who still depend on them. The portrayal of the sandwich generation as being trapped and burdened with complaints does not entirely align with the Islamic values regarding the role of men. A study conducted at Yayasan Diniyah Pekanbaru identified nine teachers and staff as members of the sandwich generation. However, it was found that most of them were able to adequately meet their family’s financial needs, contrasting with other studies in Indonesia that often highlight significant challenges. This research aims to examine how the sandwich generation at Yayasan Diniyah Pekanbaru fulfills their family’s financial responsibilities, identify supporting factors, and analyze these practices from the perspective of family sociology. Using field research methods with a qualitative approach, the study revealed that sandwich-generation families at Yayasan Diniyah Pekanbaru successfully manage their economic responsibilities. Most respondents demonstrated stable income sources and effective financial management systems. While there were variations in spousal roles, financial management, and the involvement of extended family members, each family operated based on its own principles and objectives. Key supporting factors included religious education, financial management skills, and family values. From a family sociology perspective, an analysis using the functional theory indicates that sandwich-generation families who can meet their responsibilities without feeling burdened are those who successfully perform their economic, social, and emotional functions optimally. This study concludes that not all members of the sandwich generation struggle or feel burdened when fulfilling their family’s needs, including those of their children, spouses, parents, or other dependents.
2025-06-14T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Khulasah : Islamic Studies Journalhttps://ojs.staisdharma.ac.id/index.php/kisj/article/view/410PUTUS PERKAWINAN KARENA LI’AN DAN AKIBAT HUKUMNYA TERHADAP HARTA PERSPEKTIF HUKUM ISLAM DI INDONESIA 2025-05-20T14:08:16+00:00Harmi Yusriharmiyusri@gmail.comJumni Nellijumni.nelli@uin-suska.ac.id
Marriage is a sacred bond aimed at forming a harmonious, loving, and compassionate family. However, in practice, various domestic issues may lead to divorce, one of which is through the li’an process. Li’an occurs when a husband accuses his wife of adultery without presenting four witnesses, and the wife denies the accusation by taking an oath before a judge. This process results in the permanent dissolution of the marriage and carries legal consequences, including the status of children and the division of marital property. This study employs a library research method by examining Islamic legal literature and relevant Indonesian regulations. The findings indicate that although Islamic law does not explicitly regulate the division of assets after li’an, resolution can be pursued through as-shulhu (amicable settlement) based on mutual agreement between both parties. If no agreement is reached, the matter may be resolved through the court while still adhering to the principles of Sharia.
2025-06-14T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Khulasah : Islamic Studies Journalhttps://ojs.staisdharma.ac.id/index.php/kisj/article/view/307MAKNA KATA ITHMA’ANNA DAN DERIVASINYA DALAM AL-QUR’AN2024-10-09T04:19:08+00:00Lidya Raihanaatikahlidya6@gmail.com
This thesis explores solutions and formulations for depression therapy by examining the derivation of the word 'Ithma'anna' in the Al-Qur'an, which means 'calm'. From an ontological perspective, jihad is seen as a central idea in Islamic doctrine, which includes not only military conflict but also spiritual, moral, and social aspects. From an epistemological perspective, the meaning of jihad comes from reliable Islamic sources such as the Qur'an and hadith; however, in order to avoid being trapped in literal and extreme interpretations, it must be interpreted contextually using the maqashid sharia approach. On the other hand, jihad is studied from the perspective of values and goals in the axiological dimension, namely as a valiant effort to maintain humanity, justice, and a peaceful and inclusive society. This study shows how important it is to have a deep understanding of jihad in modern times to combat extremism, foster social cohesion, and give people more positive power. Therefore, it is necessary to redefine jihad based on current events while maintaining the core of the admirable principles of Islam.
2025-06-14T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Khulasah : Islamic Studies Journalhttps://ojs.staisdharma.ac.id/index.php/kisj/article/view/420Sejarah Sistem Pendidikan Indonesia: Masa Penjajahan, Masa Kemerdekaan, Masa Reformasi-Sekarang2025-06-03T02:37:25+00:00Hilda Lutfiyahildalutfiya.fiya@gmail.comHimatul Uliyaaliyaahima179@e-mail.comIda MartafiaPutriidamartafia@gmail.comMambaul Ngadhimahmambaul@iainponorogo.ac.id
This journal examines the development of the education system in Indonesia from the Dutch colonial period to the reform era, focusing on the educational policies implemented and their impact on society.
